Visits

Upon arrival each visiting child is matched with a full beesuit which they pull over their clothes and tuck into their wellies. They are then checked to make sure all zips are fastened correctly.

Adults may either be assigned a full suit or a jacket (with hood) depending on nervousness and thickness of trousers.

After this, the basics in conducting themselves around beehives is explained with emphasis on bees being wild creatures.

During the course of visiting beehives there is lots of discussion about bees and beekeeping. This lasts about an hour and a half.

There is usually a visit around various plots on the allotment by invite and depending on the season, opportunity to pick and sample fruit and vegetables.

A small pot of honey will also be given to every visitor as they leave.
